Thornton invades Volunteer Speedway for The Gauntlet
Ricky Thornton Jr. returned to the Volunteer State this past week as Vic Hill hosted the four-race “Gauntlet at the Gap” at Volunteer Speedway.
The midweek stretch ran Tuesday through Saturday, with an off day on Thursday. Thornton opened the week with a 14th-place finish on Tuesday before rebounding with a third-place run on Wednesday.
After a day off on Thursday, Thornton returned to Bulls Gap, Tennessee, to close out the week with a pair of top-five finishes. He followed a fourth-place effort on Friday with a runner-up showing in Saturday’s $30,000-to-win finale, joining race winner Jonathan Davenport and third-place finisher Mike Marlar on the podium.
