Thornton storms to runner-up finish in Spring Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway

Ricky Thornton Jr. took advantage of an off weekend from the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series by competing with the Midwest LateModel Racing Association at Lucas Oil Speedway.

With 35 entries on hand for the annual Spring Nationals, Thornton battled early struggles on both nights but found speed as the weekend progressed. He charged from 19th to fourth on Friday, then followed it up with an 18th-to-second run in Saturday’s $25,000-to-win finale.
