RTJ enters Chili Bowl at Tulsa Expo Raceway
Coming off a Monday night appearance in the Race of Champions, Ricky Thornton Jr. returned to the Tulsa (Okla.) Expo Center’s SageNet Center on Tuesday afternoon for his preliminary night for the 40th annual Chili Bowl Nationals.
Thornton advanced into Tuesday night’s main event after charging from seventh to fourth in his heat race and earning a victory in his qualifier. He went on to finish 17th in the 25-lap feature, which placed him into a D-Main for Saturday’s program.
Thornton’s bid for a coveted Golden Driller came to an end with an eighth-place finish in his D-Main on Saturday evening.
