Thornton Returns to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Action

On Saturday, Ricky Thornton Jr. continued his quest for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year title.

Thornton was on of 44 entries to register for the annual Indiana Icebreaker at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway. After the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race locked Ricky into the $15,000-to-win A-Main, track and series officials made the decision to postpone the remainder of the evening due to rough track conditions.

The following night at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, Thornton went into battle against a field of 29 for the Buckeye Spring 50. Another fourth-place finish in his heat race positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $12,000 on the line, Thornton managed a 13th place outing.
