RTJ marches to fifth-place finish at 300 Raceway

On Friday afternoon Ricky Thornton Jr. and SSI Motorsports invaded 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Truck Country 50. With 28 Late Models entered, Ricky came in sixth in his heat race before placing third in his B-Main. Rolling off 19th for the $12,000-to-win opening night feature, Thornton Jr. advanced through the field 14 spots in the 50-lap affair to register an impressive fifth-place finish. Persistent rain overnight postponed Saturday’s LOLMDS event at 34 Raceway (Burlington, Iowa) to July 15th.

Ricky is tied for fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
