Top-10 finish in Independence 50 at Portsmouth

Ricky Thornton Jr. returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Friday afternoon at Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) for the Independence 50. Drawing 25 Late Models, Thornton Jr. passed three cars in his heat race to place fourth. For the Prime Solutions 50 on Saturday evening at Muskingum County Speedway (Zanesville, Ohio), Ricky grabbed the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race, which positioned him 15th on the starting grid for the main event. With $15,000 on the line, Thornton Jr. clawed forward two spots in the 50-lap affair to record a 13th-place outing.

Ricky climbed to seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
