Top-10 finish in Topless 100 at Batesville

After Mother Nature eliminated Thursday’s opener, Ricky Thornton Jr. was one of 47 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) on Friday for the 29th annual Comp Cams Topless 100. Following the fifth fastest qualifying lap, Thornton Jr. scored a second-place finish in his heat. Starting the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature in 10th, Ricky passed five cars in the 30-lapper to finish fifth. With his fifth-place finish on Friday aligning him on the third row for Saturday night’s $40,000-to-win Topless 100, Ricky dropped two spots in the 100-lap affair to cross the line in seventh.

Ricky is currently tied for sixth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
